Colonel Joe Buccino is a highly accomplished communications director with an impressive career spanning various leadership roles in the field of military communications and public relations. As the Communications Director of the US Central Command (CENTCOM), he has been responsible for overseeing a team of more than 50 military and civilian personnel, managing both external and internal communications across 17 media markets and regions, including Central Asia, the Middle East, and the Levant.

Throughout his career, Colonel Buccino has been at the forefront of strategizing and implementing communication campaigns that cover emerging crises and ongoing operations and initiatives. His expertise and innovative approach have earned him recognition as a master strategist in crisis communication, providing accurate messaging and influencing public perceptions in complex situations. One of the successful strategic approaches pioneered by Colonel Buccino is "People, Partners, and Innovation." This framework emphasizes the importance of connecting with individuals on a personal level, understanding their concerns, and delivering information that resonates with them. He also believes in fostering strong partnerships with major media stakeholders, local influencers, and international organizations to ensure the effective dissemination of CENTCOM's message. A graduate of the State University of New York, Albany, Colonel Buccino holds a Bachelor's degree in US history. He further pursued his passion for communications with a Master's degree in PR and corporate communications from Georgetown University. His earlier experiences as a media relations officer with the Office of the Chief of Public Affairs honed his skills in handling complex messaging, particularly during the military drawdown in the Obama administration.

In addition to his military achievements, Colonel Buccino is an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and has earned several prestigious awards, including the Meritorious Service Medal, Bronze Star Medals, Combat Action Badge, and a Legion of Merit. Beyond his professional career, Colonel Buccino is a talented fiction writer. In 2015, he wrote, produced, and acted in "The Only Man Who Knew," a one-person play presented at Georgetown University's Davis Performing Arts Theater. As a military history enthusiast, he has extensively studied the legacy of Richard Nixon and the Watergate scandal.
